My Fight Against Diabetes

I was diagnosed with Diabetes when I went into the Hospital in June of 2019.  I did not believe that I had that at all.  I could not get my head wrapped around that because I did not have any of the warning signs of that disease.  So I started on a research into the disease.

I never had the sugar level or the High Blood Pressure prior to having that really bad headache.  It just did not make sense to me and still doesn't to a point.

I am an emotional eater and the last two years have been hell for me when we were dealing with Wells Fargo.  Very stressful.  Finally we were released from that stressful company the day after I went into the hospital and I do but much of the blame on them for causing the high stress levels, high blood pressure and the sugar to go sky high. Now I am expecting my body to go normal in about a year.  Another things that happened was my husband lost his high paying job because of downsizing 2 years ago, when we were going through the Wells Fargo stuff.  We had an ARM and that was fine then they changed their system about 5 years ago and I understood that interest would go up every 6 months, but what they were doing was upping it every month no matter what I paid them, it was never enough.  I got all the 7 am calls asking me when they were getting paid and most of the time it was a week or more before the bill was even due!  Yes calling them was very stressful and my husband could not take some of that stress off of me because he didn't have the time and could not longer get calls at his work.  So he would bring home candy bars and of course I would eat them.  Stress reduction for me but didn't realize the damage they were dong on top of the emotional stress.  I started eating crunchy stuff because I had to do it and chips and all that came into play with my eating.  It was horrible and cold not get out of it.  That GOD I am not doing that anymore! Normally I don't eat junk food and need crunchy stuff to sooth me and I never drank lots of anything,.  Which is weird because now with some of the supplements and their drugs that I was on I have to make myself drink lots.  I am just not thirsty that much.   This another reason I don't believe I have Diabetes.  I eat lots of salads too during the summer when I grow the lettuce and vegetable myself.   I love salads.  Junk food or going out to eat was only twice a month when we went shopping for groceries and food for the animals, mostly for our cats.  That was our treat.  I am not a big plate eater.   You beginning to see why I don't believe and are confused. What I have noticed is that my Rosacea is much worse now.

I know that I had Pancreatitis in 1996 before arranging my wedding.  He was there, but I was told by that doctor that I was an alcoholic, which I was not on account of my Ulcerative Colitis.

I did have some blurry vision and though that it was
my Optic Nerve Pit and I was not diagnosed with Diabetes then either, not even close.  I was born with it and it didn't really start bothering me until I hit 50 years old.  Still not diagnosed with the Diabetes then either. Most glasses that they gave me didn't really do justice to my long visions and I ended up just getting reading glasses.  No Diabetes  when I was in my early 40's.

You see in the pit it looks more like a hole and wondering how that was affecting me.  At the Eye Doctor they did show me wear I could and could not see on another picture that I don't have.  That was lots of my vision in my left eye and does and did affect my eyesight.  They did laser treatments and I will discus that in my next post.

I had to have an operation due to a hernia when I lifted a cinder block and I felt it rip.  Oh it did not hurt but felt something go loose in my gut.  Got all the tests to have that done and still no Diabetes reported.  Now I did have a blood clot in my 30's and so I took my sock and wore it to my operation that took 3 hours.  He did tell me that it may happen again and so I did not lift anything for one year, when it opened up yet again.  Exactly one year to the day!  Got the test them as well in my 50's and still not signs of Diabetes.  This was only about 5 years ago. That Hernia one lasted 5 hours and they had to take out my belly button.  Hence fat stomach.

This is why I can't get my head around that I have it now. Read that experience and the data that I got on some things that will surprise you: My Stroke At 62

What showed up was the headache that was a bleeding one and it really messed up my vision.  I just got two Laser treatments.  They weren't to right my eyesight but to prevent more damage from they said my Diabetes!

I also went to a dietitian and she told me about a diet that I should be on, and so I have been trying to be on that diet.  Then I went to a Dietitian and got more meds, which I think are poison.  I did not want to be on meds as I am more into supplements and natural thing gs.  Then I did lots of research on those and found some very interesting things about that and them and am taking them instead of the meds for High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol and sugar.  I told my dietitian about what I am going to take and have taken for the last month and it helps lots in keeping my signs that I now have with the HP and Sugar.  We have a problem with the Glucometer that we have and told her that it just will not work in our house.  She doesn't believe us.  I don't believe it either but it works anywhere not here.  She is going to try it at her office next visit, but it will work there and not show her that it will not work where I live.  She she will think that I am telling a story.  My mom believes me and told her nurses and me that it will not work where I live because of the mountain.  It has nothing to do with electricity,  I don't know what is it.

I have started a exercise program and my dieting and all that with lots of information gained in the last few months.

Anoth thing they don't know that I used on a daily basis that does cause High Blood Pressure is a Water Sotener that uses Salt.

Water Softener and a Raise in Blood PressureIn areas with very hard water, the softened water coming from your tap can actually add a significant amount of sodium to your diet. The harder the water, the more sodium the softening system must add to replace the dissolved calcium and magnesium.Apr 29, 2019

I was also diagnosed with High Cholesterol.  Now I have found lots of different Cholesterol there is and so I was eating Peanut butter top be on the Zero Carb diet and found that it is very high in Cholesterol.  Now I am confused and they wonder why.  Eggs are supposed to be good now and so I bumped up my serving a few more times a week.  Although I am allergic to them but I was told that I had to eat protein with my morning coffee.  Eggs are now in the good cholesterol range and a few years they were very bad for you.  So What!!!??  Here is a place where you can find out about that:

High Cholesterol Does NOT cause Heart Disease ( very controversial)

I also posted this on my FaceBook Group

What are You Eating and Your Health  and got this respon to my question:

  • "I just read this artilce and shared it tomty group and cannot say that I have these diseases but I am on High Cholesterol pills or was. The frist thing they say it is from is smoking. I have never smoked in my life and the second was a high fat diet. Not so sure on this one either. I don't do alot of frying and if I do it is with the diet stuff like Olive Oil, which I have found burns because it cannot handle the high heat of some things. Stress now that I have had more than enough in the last year and that has changed drasttically. I am 62 now and so I would be consiered elderly in their age ranges based on this article."......."Not everyones body uses cholesterol the same way, there is a genetic predisposition there to an extent . However , cholesterol, especially the LDL type , has gotten a bad rap for years as if it had no benefits or played no role in important functions , its the ratio between the HDL , LDL , VLDL that determines healthy / acceptable values .Its not only fatty deposits in the vessels that are responsible for cardiovascular disease , its inflammation , constriction of the vessels, trauma to the vessels ( by high b/p ) oxidative stress , etc..
  • Sugar is a big culprit . Heart disease started increasing in frequency after the advent of refined sugar . .. then processed food , high fructose syrup and so on .. And heart disease is common in diabetics & one of the key effects of diabetes we try to prevent."

Sugar is not what you think it is.  Sugar is not the white processed sugar in most everything sweet that you eat like candy or in teaspoons in your coffee or even honey and sugar substitutes things such as that.  When I went off of sugar a few years ago that was what I thought.  It is in all grains and things such as rice, noodles, breads, cereals, and even oatmeal.  I wonder when that changed as became bad for people. It isn't what you think it is and you can't see it or tell it.  That was and is my problem.  Gluten free does not mean sugar fee.  It isn't the gluten but when they gluten has been removed and that is what turns to sugar in your body.  Understand now why all whites and even grainy bread is sugar?
Then I watched one of the medical shows that they have,

Second Opinion

Well a few of them and they have had Diabetes things on them.  The last one was about Value Based Care, where there is MONEY involved and less about Patient Care and training and care.  They are different and the doctor and the host of the problem did have a problem and discussion about that.  Nobody wants that kind of program and the doctor was saying how much things are changing with that and how Insurance is less demanding about what is prescribed and taken then they were like  last year.  Oh how much I agree with that!  I have a huge problem with that way they are doing now and how the BigPharm is doing all the dangerous drugs.

Value Based Care

This program may have changed my mind about getting Health Insurance because the money is given to the Primary Doctors who will be able to do the spending.  Now if My doctors would do that I think this area would be much better in Patient Care and allowing the patient to work with them instead of , like me, run away and get mad and not be able to work with them because of MONEY.

I kid you not here is a peice of the transcription
Here is some of the transcripts of the show that ia mentioned in my blog:
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: YEAH, SO, IT CAN AFFECT THE EYES, KIDNEYS, AND NERVES. AS THREE -- AND, YOU KNOW, THE LEADING CAUSE OF BLINDNESS IN ADULTS, IT'S THE LEADING CAUSE OF KIDNEY FAILURE. IT CAN LEAD TO AMPUTATIONS, HEART DISEASE.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: IS HE DOOMED? DOES EVERYBODY WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES GET THESE COMPLICATIONS?
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: NOT AT ALL.
>> DR. LOU PAPA: THAT'S THE THING. THEY'RE NOT DOOMED.................
.....>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: WE TEND TO SAY "THE ABCS." A1C, WHICH IS THAT MEASURE OF YOUR BLOOD SUGAR. SO, CONTROLLING BLOOD SUGAR. "B" FOR BLOOD PRESSURE, 'CAUSE MANY PEOPLE HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE THAT HAVE DIABETES. AND "C" FOR CHOLESTEROL -- CONTROLLING THAT. THOSE THREE...
>> DR. PETER SALGO: THAT STUFF.
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: ...IF YOU GET THOSE RIGHT, YOU CAN LARGELY PREVENT ALL OF THESE COMPLICATIONS.
>> DR. LOU PAPA: BUT THE OTHER PART, FOR A PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR, THIS CAN BE KIND OF A POINT OF EXCITEMENT OR A POINT OF DOOM. BECAUSE FOR A LOT OF PATIENTS, IT'S YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO SAY, "THIS CAN CHANGE FOR YOU." IF YOU'RE OVERWEIGHT, YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ACTIVE, YOU HAVEN'T BEEN EATING RIGHT, YOU CAN REVERSE THAT DIABETES. YOU CAN HAVE A SIGNIFICANT -- IT TAKES A LOT OF WORK, BUT IT'S LIKE A BRANCH POINT IN THE ROAD FOR THAT PATIENT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: AND YOU DECIDED THAT YOU WERE GONNA BEAT THE ODDS...
>> MARK LEE: CORRECT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: ...AND TAKE SOME CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTHCARE. THEY PUT YOU ON MEDICATION.
>> MARK LEE: METFORMIN, RIGHT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: A DRUG -- METFORMIN. HOW'D YOU LIKE THAT DRUG?
>> MARK LEE: IT WASN'T VERY GOOD AT FIRST. I GOT A LITTLE QUEASY FROM IT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: AND THEN, WHAT DID YOU DO TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTHCARE?
>> MARK LEE: I WORKED WITH THE DOCTOR TO TRY TO GET OFF THE METFORMIN.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: YOU WERE ON A DOSE AND DECREASED IT.
>> MARK LEE: GRADUALLY. GRADUALLY.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: BUT YOU DID OTHER THINGS.
>> MARK LEE: WORKED OUT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: YOU TOOK CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTHCARE. YOU WENT ON A DIET/EXERCISE PROGRAM, LOST WEIGHT, GOT OFF THE MEDICATION YOU DIDN'T LIKE. ALL OF THIS IS TERRIFIC. NOW, PANEL, I WANT TO TURN THIS UPSIDE DOWN, ALL RIGHT? HERE'S A STORY, MARK, OF HEALTHCARE GONE RIGHT. AND THAT'S, OF COURSE, WHY HE'S HERE TODAY, BECAUSE WE LOVE HEALTHCARE GONE RIGHT. BUT THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON OUT THERE IN THE PATIENT-CARE COMMUNITY CALLED VALUE-BASED CARE, WHICH IS WHERE DOCTORS TRY TO MAKE A LOT MORE MARKS HAPPEN IN THE REAL WORLD. WHAT IS VALUE-BASED CARE?
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: WELL, YOU KNOW, IT'S CHANGING THE INCENTIVES. YOU KNOW, EVERY SYSTEM IS PERFECTLY DESIGNED FOR THE OUTCOMES THAT IT GETS. AND SO IF YOU LOOK AT OUR CURRENT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, THE INCENTIVES ARE, REALLY, FINANCIALLY, FOR PEOPLE NOT TO GET WELL.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: WAIT A MINUTE. LET'S EXPLAIN THAT.
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: YES.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: "NOT TO GET WELL." AS I UNDERSTAND IT, WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IS INDICTMENT OF THE FEE-FOR-SERVICE PAYMENT SYSTEM WHERE, IF A DOCTOR DOES SOMETHING HE OR SHE GETS PAID. IF SOME UNFORTUNATE THING THEN HAPPENS AND YOU HAVE TO FIX IT, YOU GET PAID AGAIN.
>> BOTH: RIGHT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: SO THE INCENTIVE IS TO...
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: AND IN A WEIRD WAY, THE SICKER PEOPLE ARE, THE MORE -- YOU KNOW, MORE OPPORTUNITIES THERE ARE TO DO PROCEDURES AND OTHER THINGS THAT ARE WELL-REIMBURSED. WHAT ISN'T INCENTIVIZED, I GUESS, AND MAYBE THIS IS WHERE IT'S HELPFUL TO THINK, IS THE INCENTIVES TO KEEP PEOPLE WELL.
>> DR. LOU PAPA: MM-HMM.
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: AND THAT REQUIRES THE KIND OF CARE THAT HE RECEIVED, THAT REALLY -- WORKING WITH A NUTRITIONIST, WORKING WITH A TEAM TO REALLY FOCUS ON LIFESTYLE.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: BUT IN ORDER TO MAKE VALUE-BASED CARE WORK -- THE WORD "VALUE" IS IN THERE FOR A REASON. THE FIRST THING YOU TALKED ABOUT WAS MONEY.
>> DR. ROBERT GABBY: YEP.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: I MEAN, YOU DIDN'T TALK ABOUT DRUGS, YOU DIDN'T TALK ABOUT DISEASE. YOU SAID MONEY.
>> DR. LOU PAPA: RIGHT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: AND AT THE HEART OF ALL OF THIS IS TO CAP COSTS, OR KEEP THEM UNDER CONTROL.
>> DR. LOU PAPA: ABSOLUTELY.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: AND THAT REQUIRES SOME UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT WORKS AT WHAT COST.
>> DR. LOU PAPA: RIGHT.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: AND IT SAYS, "IF SOMETHING'S REALLY EXPENSIVE AND DOESN'T WORK VERY WELL, DON'T DO IT."
>> DR. LOU PAPA: WELL, THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF VALUE-BASED CARE IN SOME RESPECTS, IS THAT YOU REALLY HAVE TO HAVE EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE. YOU REALLY HAVE TO ROLL IT INTO WHAT YOU'RE DOING. AND YOU HAVE TO WORK ON SOME OF THE VARIANTS THAT OCCURS IN MEDICINE. SO, ONE WAY THAT DIABETES IS TREATED IN ONE PLACE MAY BE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN ANOTHER PLACE, AND THEIR OUTCOMES ARE VERY DIFFERENT. BUT THERE'S EVIDENCE TO SHOW THAT IT SHOULD BE TREATED A CERTAIN WAY ACROSS THE BOARD.
>> DR. PETER SALGO: DOES THAT SOUND RATIONAL TO YOU?
>> MARK LEE: YEAH. WELL, IT'S INTERESTING, 'CAUSE WHAT IF YOU'RE A REALLY SICK PERSON AND YOU HAVE A LESS CHANCE OF SURVIVING?
>> DR. LOU PAPA: THAT'S OUR CONCERN........

SECONDOPINION-TV.ORG
>> ANNOUNCER: "SECOND OPINION" IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY BLUECROSS BLUESHIELD. ACCEPTED IN ALL 50…

So I really don't have a clue as to when I got Diabetes but I know that I can control it and watch my diet and continue exercising. On my other post about my stroke there are things that give you High Blood pressure and will make your sugar level go up and it is a parasite, not the Diabetes.  The parasite is microscopic and transferred by animals like Dogs and Cats, that go inside and outside and most people that have it don't have a clue.  Well it seems that the medical community barley knows it either or they would do testing for it. So why are they not testing those who show no signs of being Diabetic?  I do not show any signers of it and there was the guy on the Second Opinion show that does not and doesn't even have family that has it.    There is an easy fix for that and it doesn't cost a lot of money and doesn't need prescription drugs so falls out of the Value Based Care program set up by the Insurance companies.    I currently am taking the supplements that kill intestinal parasites and don't take any of the prescription I was prescribed.  I will be getting possibly a new glucometer and my feet examined.  My parent and anyone else that I know does not have problem with their feet and my feet are fine.  I do know abut those who have had toes removed and such, but we are not any of them.

I think I am done with this post.  I am sure there will be others later, like my eye laser treatments and more.  Stay tuned!
